Raphael Architects - Design Process

SYNOPSIS

To design a house that accommodates and celebrates the unique aspects of each client's project, Raphael Architects engages in an iterative series of tasks with clients, consulting engineers and contractors, including the following:

  • Document the existing context of the house through information gathering exercises.
  • Prepare existing condition house plans.
  • Analyze the information and create potential solutions.
  • Evaluate the implications implicit in different design alternatives.
  • Synthesize the best elements of different schemes into a unified design.
  • Recommend the proposed plans for the house.
  • Prepare plans, elevations and sections to submit for municipal approval.
  • Further develop the house plans, elevations, details and schedules to define all exterior finishes and systems and interior design.
  • Recommend the most appropriate general contractor to build the house.
  • Administer the construction contract to ensure construction follows the intent of the construction documents.

Defining the functional, financial and architectural constraints and opportunities enables us to create successful residential construction projects.

Open communication is critical to accurately establish appropriate project goals.
